Ill Crate episode 34: The Big LeBowlCrate
It’s our first remote podcast, recorded Friday, February 10 at Leilani Lanes. Since Padrino had to bowl in a ten-pin tournament with comrades Lunchbox and Funboy, we thought: what the hell, let’s do the podcast from there! It also gives us a chance to wax nostalgic on Leilani since it is mere weeks away from closing its doors. And since Padrino is busy bowling, LG hosts most of the podcast all on his own–without a net!
So what do you think of when you think of bowling? The Big Lebowski, of course! So we’ll be talking about that Coen Brothers classic and giving a listen to the soundtrack as well.
All that as well as the Geek Zone and the Weakly Disappointment. Listen close and you might be able to hear the part where LG goofs up and Padrino has to cover his ass in post-production.

What!? Leilanie Lanes is closing???? Too sad…so many memories! What are they going to turn it into or are they just tearing it down? I guess there’s always Kenmore…

M.B.!
Yeah, unfortunately Leilani Lanes is going to be razed and turned into a bunch of new condos, I think. There is word that bowling is the fastest rising sport in high school athletics, yet the number of bowling centers is decreasing, year after year. You’re right, it is very sad. That bowling center is the common thread that connects me to most of my friends. L.G. and I have lots of fond memories of the place. He bowled his first league there and we won the league championship together. It is where I met Funboy, Lunchbox, Biscuit and The Thumb. What more needs be said!!!! But, as you say . . . there is always Kenmore Lanes, which I live two blocks from. Hopefully, they won’t close their doors any time soon. Though, there have been threats that they are going to close due to a very hostile city government that is trying to ban their casino action. We’re holding our breath.
BTW, even though the sound was not up to par, did you enjoy the “remote broadcast?” If people find those somewhat entertaining, we’ll consider doing more down the road. It is always nice to get out of Zin City studios once in a while. BTW, if you have Tivo, you can now get “The Ill Crate” there (if you’re box is connected to the net). It shouldn’t be too much longer until most cable boxes have the ability to grab podcasts.
Thanks for listening!
