Episode 39 is da ‘Bomb(s)!
In this, our episode the thirty-ninth, we bend our critical ear towards the late Detroit garage-punk band the Dirtbombs. We also hear more Slanguage, get run over by the Amazing Race again (specifically episodes 6 and 7), we try out a new segment called Reposing or Decomposing?, and pigs take wing and Hell gets kind of nippy in the Geek Zone (okay, really, Apple releases Boot Camp). Finally, during this very podcast, LG suffers a fate worse than death.

Great show guys! Funny as ever and I did get a kick out of LG hiccups! I love the new repose or decompose game too. Anyway, glad you guys are back!

Glad you enjoyed it. I think the hiccups were a sign of bad things to come. I’ve been laid up at home for the past few days with some kind of cold or pneumonia or something. (Or, as the Countess cheerfully said to me, “maybe it’s just tuberculosis!”)

Hey Everybody!
Glad to hear you’re still alive, L.G.! I was starting to wonder what may have befallen you. Nice Engrish, eh? I was very very ill myself over the same weekend that I edited this episode. But I do believe I’m getting better. Maybe we can get this thing back on track soon! BTW, I’ve had Kansas City Bomber for about a week anticipating a visit from you . . .
Gill! thanks for the kind words. Hopefully you did better than L.G. and I did on Reposing or Decomposing. I thought it would be easier! According to a little icon L.G. installed on my menu bar, Abe Vigoda is still alive today! Hooray!
Umm, I’ve been listening to a lot of really crazy music lately. Lots of stuff I’m really excited about. Some of the bands are S.W.A.T., Rilo Kiley, Dragonforce and Sonata Arctica. If anybody has a preference of what they might like to hear next on the show, voice your opinion. Do you prefer European progressive thrash metal, goofy girl alternative or mid nineties indie country punk? All of it is da shizznit! Let us know!

P.S. sorry about spelling and grammar errors . . . I be too lazy to check dat stuff right now.

You know who I’ve always wondered about, whether they’re dead or not, but have way too many other things to look up on the internet on a daily basis? Jerry’s parents on Seinfeld. I loved them! They were two of my fave characters. Anyway, in reference to your bands, I’m not familiar with Dragonforce or Sonata Arctica. I’ve heard a bit of Rilo Kiley which was pretty good but I’m not real into “chick rock.” I’ll check out the 2 other bands to see what they’re about. Man you guys find some obscure bands!

Hey dudes, great show!! Finally got my ill fix. Hope L.G’s hiccups have gone away. You know there have been cases of people getting them for years. For real! Hope you two sickos get better by the next podcast.

Thanks SheAp!
Gill, I doubt that you’d like the other bands I mentioned, but as a guitar player and former “butt rocker,” I really dig those bands. They are so fast the music sounds silly. Actually, as literature, the songs ARE silly. C’est la vie.

Hi Gentleman!
Another entertaining show.
That was a dangerous episode to listen to while driving (as I put on my iPod and listen on my drive home). Everytime you guys tried to scare the hiccups out of LG it freaked me out!
I did enjoy Reposing or Decomposing. I love stuff like that.
Slanguage is fun too! I’m trying to be clever and come up with some of my own…but so far, no luck!
Pad…are you admitting you were a “butt rocker”…does this count as coming out of the closet??
Have a nice week guys…looking forward to a new episode.

Hey Padrino thanx for reading my blogs! That’s what I put them out there for. Trying to spread the GOOD NEWS! Man, Social Distortion has got to be one of the greates bands ever in my opinion. I’m surprised they weren’t as popular either. Probably cause they only put out a couple videos. You know how people are, if they aren’t on mtv, they don’t get noticed! I’ve been found by a few really cool bands lately. One of them is the mahones, they are awesome!! Yall might really like them. It’s an irish punk band. Another one called bumrunner…really good also. By the way, where did the term “Butt Rocker” actually come from? Haven’t heard that in a long time
!!!!

Ok…I just saw my mistake on my post…meant to say Gentlemen…not Gentleman…..yikes….

Aren!
Hey, I didn’t even notice the error! I had look at your correction about 5 times AND STILL DIDN’T SEE IT! What a great prof I would have made, eh? BTW, I know you have it in you to come up with a Slanguage idea or two. I would eventually like to do a “Listener’s Slanguage” episode. My sis has thrown a couple at me. I’m waiting for more! Oh, you wouldn’t have believed how bad (AND ANNOYING!) L.G.’s hiccups got. I think I must have cut out about 10 minutes of the show. But I really enjoyed the show myself. L.G.’s suffering made it pretty funny. Both of us have been a bit under the weather lately. That’s why we missed having a show last week. See, last week’s show was actually in the can about two weeks ago, but L.G. was too sick to get it posted . . .
SheAp!
I’m going to see if I can track down those bands you mentioned. I’ve been in a very punky mood lately . . . hahahaha, and a “butt rockin’” mood too. I don’t know where that term came from. I seem to remember somebody saying the term was born from the notion that the 80’s hair bands were always photographed in their MTV videos with their butts prominently displayed in tight leather or spandex. I guess those videos contained a lot of close ups of the lead singers rear ends. Being extremely hetero, as you can tell from the ill crate podcasts, I never noticed this phenomenon. I mean, really, how could I?
Yours,

hey those bands the mahones and bumrunner are on myspace. Here are the URL’s
www.myspace.com/themahones
www.myspace.com/bumrunner
If you get a chance to listen Crank up the volume!! I’m actually pretty pumped about these two bands. I think I’m gonna go deaf listening to them. If ya check them out they each have 3 or 4 songs on their profile, listen to all of them! Let me know what ya think about them.
April 27th, 2006 at 1:25 pm
Hey guys great show. I am glad that your in a punk mood Padrino. Punk is a great past time of mine. I think that the ill crate should get a myspace. The bands and people that she appizle and I run into are great just think, you guys could blow up big on my space! Anyway Love listening and can’t wait for the next one, Ohh I am a HUGE Social D fan…even got the tattoo to prove it!

Mass Ex!
I think L.G. has been poking around MySpace, so I think we’ll be up and about there pretty soon. I’ve been checking out the The Mahones. I think they borrowed a thing or two from Social D, don’t you? BTW, have you ever heard of The Young Dubliners? They aren’t really punk, but they have that great Irish Pub sound and they saw a mean fiddle. I saw them in concert a few years ago backing up Jethro Tull and I even got them to sign their album (Red, I think) for me. They were great chaps. The lead singer’s wife had just had a baby the night before (no, it wasn’t mine!). Anyway, they are more like Irish Electric/Folk rock, but they’ve got that great Celtic sound. They do a very rousing version of The Waterboys’ Fisherman Blues. I think you’d love it.
Hey, saw a pic of your newest tats, the I - X; tres cool! I’m not really into ink, but those were truly awesome.

Yeah, I see, LG’s quite the ladies man on Myspace. All friends are hot chicks except one!
May 1st, 2006 at 3:16 pm
Hey, I’m on his friends list and I better not be the unhot chick Gill’s talking about!! I’m wondering where Mrs. Brightside has been! Aren’t yall?
May 1st, 2006 at 10:25 pm
Hmm, yeah? Where in the heck has Mrs. Brightside been? Probably hanging out with Bluebeard; haven’t seen him for a while either. Actually, I heard that Mrs. Brightside has been out of town, auditioning for a spot on “Deal or No Deal.”
Oh, L.G. is most definitely quite the Ladys Man. What do you think those initials stand for anyhoo? Ladys’ Guy! Didn’t know that? Shame on you!
BTW, It is now Tuesday (or will be in a couple of hours) and I’ve been busy editing Ill Crate episode 40. I should have it in the can tomorrow night. It will be on-line soon after that, hopefully. Hope you are all in a metal mood and need a few yuks.
