Ill Crate episode 44

What do Godzilla and the number 44 have in common? Um… probably nothing until now. Our 44th episode features music in tribute to the giant lizard by Taz Dev, Michael Graves, Roy Buchanan, and SpEnt fiXer. We also take an early visit to The Geek Zone, which may as well be called “The MacBook Zone.” Also among our regular features: Slangoria butchers the English language once again, and Reposing or Decomposing? tests Padrino’s knowledge of Playboy Playmates.

    Hello hello!

You know I only write when you make a boo boo! :) I listen faithfully, but dont’ seem to have time to write lately.
When you did Reposing or Decomposing (which I love) you had a little slip up. When Padrino was talking about Jane Wyatt and you said “For you Star Wars fans, she was Spock’s mother”…. Spock is not from Star Wars…you know better than that! :)

So are you guys watching “Treasure Hunters” since the Amazing Race is not on? So far….LAME! Our favorite show to watch is Hell’s Kitchen! I love people who scream at people who think they are the shiznit and they truly aren’t…LOVE IT!

Still trying to think up something for Slangoria…

Hey kiddo, was it L.G. or I who said Star Wars? Probably me. I know better than that. Funny how easy it is to slip up. And we really nervous about that episode because it was the first to be recorded on our MacBooks. And we couldn’t really see our levels, so we were chatting and all the time we were clicking through programs and menus and toolbars, etc. It was extremely trying. I’ve heard a few things about the intro in particular being “soft” compared to the rest of the show. Using just phones, the episode sounded great, but when I listened to it in the studio over loudspeakers, it was horrible. I had to take the show and tweak volume levels all over the place. I also added a slide show that didn’t work in the mp3 version. We added the mac version, but not certain it worked there either. Anway, we’re relearning! Hopefully, we’ll get our act together soon.

I’m going to watch Treasure Hunters tonight or tomorrow (FRI) as I have it on Tivo. I think we may add a Rockstar segment to the show when that baby fires up. Umm, can’t believe I’m saying this . . . I love Gordon Ramsey. Yup. Hell’s Kitchen is one of my favorite programs. Probably right after Deadwood! Anyway, I really like his “Kitchen Nightmares” program on BBC America too! That really rocks, but he is not nearly as viscious as he is on Hell’s Kitchen. I find him fascinating, I’m just glad I don’t work for him.

Glad you like the Reposing or Decomposing segment. Like I mentioned before, the Mac version we did, had pictures of all the people we talked about. It seems that that would really help for some of the obscure names we come up with. Well, that L.G. comes up with. ;) I hope you do well on that segment. I’ve got to get better. Perhaps I should hit the bookz!

    Thanks for listening!

I love Gordon Ramsey! Our favorite show is Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares. We watch it faithfully. I love when he works with the French…I love when he calls them French Bastards! I love it….just because I work for the French…its just hilarious. But I’m not saying any of the French I work for are bastards…they are great :) Much better than my American boss…booo!

We haven’t seen Deadwood yet, but we want to. Probably going to have to rent the DVD’s from Netflix. After I am done with Jeeves and Wooster! I love Hugh Laurie…dry sense of humor…love it.

Anyways… here is a slangoria…..asskooser = my boss, he is an ass and it combines his last name. It would only be funny to the people in my office though :) haha

J’adore les francaise, mais je sais que, er, what I mean to say is, umm, I forget how to spell in French . . . doesn’t matter. I’m amused by the French. I love everything about them and their culture except their current attitudes in regard to Americans. But then again, I don’t really love much about the attitudes Americans have for fellow Americans. So who cares, right? Let’s just have some fun . . . we’re all bastards!!!

I wish you were closer because I could hook you up with the Deadwood boxsets. I own both of them. Yes, I’m a freak, I know. Best written show ever for television. I’m a Shakespearian and I STILL choke on the density of the language at times.

I’ve yet to see a Jeeves and Wooster episode, but I have a friend who swears that Laurie is even better in that series than he is in House. How could that be? Then again, he was certainly no slouch in Black Adder, was he? “House” is just a tremendous series; I look more forward to it than I do “Lost.” This coming from a person who absolutely abhors the medical show genre.

Anyway, I don’t really “get” the Slangoria reference, but I will mention it on the next episode (hopefully I won’t forget). One thing, is the “s” pronounced as a “z” or zed? Or is it an “ess” sound. I’m guessing it is supposed to sound like Asskisser, no?

Well, thanks for the input, Aren!

    Yours,
    Padrino

Man, I watched treasure hunters the other night and I can’t wait for the next episode, I thought it was really fun! Those hillbilly’s were hilarious the way they were looking at everything thinking it was some sort of clue! Dissapointed in the geniuses though. I thinks its a great replacement for the amazing race! So when does rock star begin? and do yall know which band they will be doing? I thought I heard something like they were going to find a singer for a new band rather than an existing band, but I’m not sure. I got into a couple episodes of hells kitchen last season, but that frign chef scares me! I may try to catch a few episodes this time around. I have yet to listen to this ill crate episode, I’ve been so busy, but I will def listen this week.

  6. Padrino Says:

    She Ap!

I still haven’t seen Treasure Hunters; just so busy myself. I understand that they are showing both episodes tonight, so I’m hoping to catch up. I hear it is a pale imitation of the Amazing Race, but that is better than nothing I guess. About Rockstar: Supernova, I think it is going to be a band built around Tommy Lee-Anderson, Har har. Doesn’t matter to me though, just as long as they have as good singers as they did last time out AND have a band that rocks as hard as House Band did. L.G. said there were some problems, especially with the name Supernova. I guess that name was already taken; take a look at your copy of the CLERKS soundtrack!

Anyway, we’ll cover it in the Ill Crate at least to a point. If it starts to suck, we’ll probably end up dropping it for a new segment.

Hope you get to hear the episode. It contains the very first recording the first real band I was ever in. I think it was our second rehearsal. And boy were we bad!!!

L.G. and I are going to record a new episode of the Ill Crate this evening. It will be featuring the new album from Ministry. You probably hate that music, but the rest of the show, hopefully, will rock.

I heard Batcam had a hard go of it this past week. Please pass on word to her that I’ve been genuflecting and pouring out some heavy verbage on her behalf. Good luck to the lot of you. Oh, heard you found some new digs. Hope that is working out for you! Nice, eh? Must have sucked moving in the Texas heat. Or are you going through a cold snap?

  7. Mrs. Brightside Says:

Hey guys! I feel so left out, I have no idea what the shows are that you speak of! I do know Hugh Laurie, She Apizzle is in LOVE with him=)) Batcam is doing alright, still a little under the weather and not his usual self but over the fever and tonsillitus, I hope. Looking forward to hearing this episode. I’m finally back at work for a full day as of yesterday so I’ve had a ton to catch up on. Take care guys!

  8. Padrino Says:
    1. How can one NOT LOVE Hugh Laurie?

    2. Glad to hear that Batcam is coming around . . . we were very concerned here at the Crate. How can we feel safe if Batcam is too pooped to protect the planet?

    3. Treasure Hunt: finally saw the first episode. I’ll keep watching. Lot’s of female eye candy, but as a travelogue, falls way short of the Amazing Race (so far, but we’re early on). I’m very disappointed with the Pastor and his gaggle of grrrls. Boy can they be annoying upon achieving a bit of success. I didn’t think a man of the cloth would cheat and scheme that much. Okay, maybe I did expect that.

    4. Episode 45 is in the process of being edited. It should be on-line by Monday. Fingers crossed. I forgot to mention Aren’s Slangoria term, I hope to include it during episode 46.

    5. Rockstar: Supernova premiers on July 5, I think. We will try and remember to talk a bit about it on Episode 46.

    Have a great pre-holiday weekend, y’all!

    Padrino
