Ill Crate episode 48: Krushed by Kompressor

Here’s the forty-eighth episode of our little podcast. No, it shouldn’t be the last, despite Padrino’s bellyaching. This time we listen to German/alien industrial act Kompressor. And, lucky you, we also have our regular features Slangoria, Reposing or Decomposing?, and The Geek Zone.

Episode 48 in MPEG-4 (includes slideshow)

    Larry!! Leaving?? What???

    You can’t stop doing the podcasts….you can’t you can’t you can’t….boohoohoooo hooo….

  2. LG Says:

The podcast should go on. I’m still leaving, though. :-) Shackin’ up with the Countess.

Which reminds me, I need to get together with you and Rass one last time before I go. Or at least Rass. I’ve got something that belongs to him.

Guys…why can’t I get this podcast to play? There was a link that had the episode number that I would click on and it would play. Now, it has two links, ipod and mp3 I think. It asks me to save it to something. Did this change? Help me out if you can!

  4. Padrino Says:

    She Ap!

You should just have to click on the mp3 link. The ipod link is for iTunes. If you have iTunes, you should actually try to listen to it on there, because then you actually get to see the slideshow that goes with the podcast. Which is really not that big a deal, but it is probably very helpful during “reposing or decomposing” since you get to see pictures of the people we are talking about if you don’t recognize their names. Let me know if you are still having problems. A lot of times clinking on a link will ask you to save it as a file or open it up in a program. Just choose “open” and choose your windows media player. This is if you are using the mp3.

  5. Padrino Says:

She Ap . . . pick the bottom link. It seems to me that you probably clicked on the top link which is an mp4, the Mac/iTunes/iPod standard.

L.G. can probably verify this. Hopefully.

    BTW . . . About Rockstar: SuperPirates!

I loved Ryan best. But really, pick ‘em. At this point, there really aren’t any weak links. I think Storm is the weakest, however, I like Dilana the least. I don’t care how much she cries or how much she apologizes, she’s still a dick. If chicks can be dicks. Everybody was very strong last night.

Zayra still did Evanesence better than Storm did. ‘Nuff said!

Can’t wait to see who is on the bottom three this week. Tuff decision. Going to be a very interesting show.

I will try that link. About RSSN I totally agree with you on all those aspects. Ryan is the best I think, however I think he may be leaving soon. Jason seems to have a lot of pull in the band and doesn’t really give Ryan the credit he deserves of course in my opinion. I do think Storm is the weakest link now. I like her a lot though. I would love to see Dilana get sent home, but she’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Seems like Toby has been stepping up lately. The band seems to like him a lot. I wonder who sings with Superpirates tonight! Let’s see if we like this song. BTW, I thought Jill did the best version of Bring Me To Life, but Z’s was better than Storms.

  7. LG Says:

All right. The “MPEG-4″ links should work now. If you have something that plays them–such as an iPod or a software player like iTunes, QuickTime, or RealPlayer–you should give them a try, because you will get a little slideshow that plays along with them!

  8. Padrino Says:

    L.G. Rulz!

Okay, I’m going to hang out here while Rockstar: SuperPirates is on and comment in real time.

Okay, seeing recaps of last night’s performances. I really hate Dilana. She looked absolutely ridiculous behind that giant Gibson Flying V guitar. I think it is cool when chicks play guitar, but Dilana is so tiny and she picked about the largest electric guitar on the market. She sings competently, but she is the worst over-actor on the planet. Talk about chewing up the scenery. She just tries way to hard. She seems so spastic up there, and not in a good Joe Cocker way. She is more annoying than an NFL wide receiver in the end zone after a game breaking touchdown catch. Yucko squared. Dave was so wrong when he said that was the best performance ever, including last season. He must have lost a lot of brain cells with all his partying.

Wow!!!! The SuperPirates song was really really good I thought. I can see that getting airplay. Not sure Lukas was singing it great (still not a fan of the quality of his voice), but he is rather compelling to watch.

Toby gets the encore . . . wonder if it will be Rebel Yell or the Evanesence song! Hahaha. I thought he was more interesting in that song than Storm. Well, Toby rocked it pretty good, but I don’t think it was as good as last night.

Bottom Three time: no idea at all who will make it. Whoa, Ryan? Not acceptable! Finally! The BITCH is in the bottom three!!! Not really wanting to hear her sing, but hope she doesn’t make it out.

Hey, don’t you want to see Lindsay Lohan naked? Umm, not sure where that came from. There’s a Verizon commercial on. Had a dream last night that my water broke. I was at the Grand Ol Opry eating teryaki. Who would have thought they had Japanese cuisine in Tennessee? But I digress . . .

At least we get to hear Ryan again, but shoot, that sucks he’s in the bottom three. Nice! Baba O Reilly!!! Can he live up to Jordis’ version. Nice opening! Uh oh, looks a little unstable on the amp cabinets. Gilby is NOT amused. May be slitting his throat here. Nice landing. Good performance, but fell apart at the end.

    Ryan: Padrino Grade of B+

Storm and the Beatles. Not the first punk song! The first HEAVY METAL song. Uh, oh, very out of tune and choking on the opening notes. Our rockers are faltering. The band is absolutely killing on this song though. Storm is sooo safe. There is no way that a girl is going home. Have to keep them on the show. Hate that ugly fedora. Jason is starting ot look a bit bored. Hmm, great songs tonight. House Band is kicking ass, but the rockers are trying way too hard. I’m getting so tired of seeing singers leave the stage to go mess with Pirates.

    Storm: Padrino grade of B.

Oh . . . while we are in commercial break - some Ill Crate news you can abuse. You might want to steal a copy of the upcoming “November” issue of FHM magazine. One of our Slangoria terms is going to be published in that issue!

YES! THE WICKED BITCH IS IN THE BOTTOM THREE! Unfortunately, this means Ryan is going home tonight. That pretty much sucks.

Okay, already, this is the worst version of the classic Talking Heads classic I’ve ever heard. Should call it. I’m a Psycho and killing this great song!” Does this even qualify as singing? Great, Jason and Tommy AND GILBY, whoa!, are hating this! Holy shit was that bad. Ouch. I’ve heard better than that at bowling alleys. Thank god we have commercials. There is no justice in this world. I can’t believe Ryan is going to have to go home after that steaming pile of crap.

WICKED BITCH: Padrino Grade of D.

I would have failed her, but House Band did what they could with that flaccid arrangement.

Here we go, kiddos . . . time for the axe to fall.

Just as I thought. Had to keep the chicks on. Total producer’s choice. No justice. Another guy will fall next week. I guess I’ll say goodbye to Toby now.

    G’day, mate!

I love the play by play! Man, I’m so sad for Ryan :( I will admit he really screamed and oversang that song. He did look like he was trying really hard to do something crazy. The girls really sucked though and Storm prob should have gone. I can’t believe they give him all those good commments…you’ve evolved, you’re the hardest worker here, blah blah blah and then they cut him. What idiots. I’m glad that Ryan didn’t kiss their butts as he left, he really looked disappointed and I think he was a bit bitter. Glad he said what he said! The audience sure sounded upset and Tommy, Jason didn’t look to sure about their decision when they heard the fans uproar. Man, now it may get a little boring for me. I was always waiting for his performance. Guess I’ll have to go for Toby now. You know what really sucked incase yall weren’t aware, but voting in some places including here where I am were down for well over an hour. We are supposed to get 4 hrs to vote, but only had a little over 2 hours! I did vote for those two hours also! The message boards were flooded with ppl complaining about voting being down, so who knows if the bottom3 was even that fair. Oh well, Ryan will do much better without those idiots. Still not crazy about that SN song and I couldn’t understand a word Lukas was singing.

wahoo! Finally got to listen to the show and it was great! Pads, for once I actually knew a few of the decomposing recomposing answers! Where the heck is LG going? I didn’t know he was even leaving. Your fans need some answers!!! Very lively show, one of the best!

  11. LG Says:

In three weeks I’m moving to San Diego to shack up with the Countess. But we should be able to keep the podcast going with what we’ve already got: a mic on Padrino’s side and another mike on my side. Though from then on I’ll be on the left and about 1000 miles south. Still, look at Chub Creek. They have a successful podcast and they’re three times as far apart as we’ll be–and they’re not even in the same time zone! So we’ll keep it going.

  12. Padrino Says:

Well, we’ll try and keep it going. It may have to change in format a bit. I can’t believe L.G. is going to quit me! ;)

So, you like the play by play? Not too lengthy? Here’s an idea. In lieu of a regular ill crate podcast for next week, would there be interest in listening to L.G. and me spout out about the show as it is being played out next week? Also, would you prefer the Tuesday night performance episode or the elimination show? Just a feeler here. L.G. may not even be able to do it. Of course I could probably do it solo, but it wouldn’t be as much fun.

Glad to hear that you got to hear the episode. Better yet, that you liked it! We tried to shorten it up. BTW, did you see the mp4 slide show version? I would assume that would help in the reposing and decomposing section. Glad you are getting better at that! I think it also helped that some of the people were more contemporary figures.

Oh, I couldn’t understand Lukas either, but I actually kind of liked the song. I bet Storm gets to sing next week’s SuperPirates song. You heard it here first folks!

Was I watching the same show as Rockstar: SuperBUTTPirates!?!?!?
What the heck…letting Ryan Go! Well maybe it was a good thing. He has made some more fans and now has more exposure and like he said…”He’ll see them on the charts..” Unfortunately, not sure if SuperBUTTPirates will make it on there…haha!

LG! When are you leaving? Shacking up with a woman….you know what Dr. Laura would say…it’s not a good idea. :) I don’t know how Pads will go on…now he will REALLY be swimming in his box of white zin!

  14. Padrino Says:

    Aren!

I agree . . . I think Ryan might be sitting there on the charts all by his lonesome. Well, at least I do not think the Pirates will be there!

Umm, look for a very special, very stripped down episode of the Ill Crate. L.G. and I plan on recording the episode as we watch Rockstar this evening. Hopefully it will not be lame.

Sorry my English is so stilted. For some reason I am unable to use apostrophes here on the bulletin board. Every time I try to use that key, I get a global search dialog box. Weird.

I’m so excited about the commentary on RSSP!! That will be awesome! Okay, so I was really bummed about Ryan leaving, he’ll be great on his own as he has been. Now, let me just say that in the webisodes we learn that they will all do an original. I started listening to Storm and the Balls her band and they are pretty darn good. You know I love ryan but I have to say, I may be a little more impressed with Storms original stuff. She’s actually quite jazzy. I wish LG all the luck and hope he has a wonderful life in San Diego…okay so does shackin up mean, living with or getting married?

  16. LG Says:

“so does shackin up mean, living with or getting married?”

    Yes.

Well, in the short term it means “living with.” :-)

  17. Padrino Says:

He has to get a divorce from me first! After all, he is my common law bee-otch. ;)

I have granted him permission to spend some months in her abode though. Probably a terrible mistake on my part. Not the first. Most likely, not the last.
