Ill Crate episode 49, a.k.a. Rock Star: Supernova, Week 10 Performance
We tried something a little different this time. We recorded this show while watching Rock Star: Supernova, specifically the performance episode for week 10 (Sept. 5, 2006). The idea was that you’d get to listen to our wisecracks while watching your own recording of the show at home. Unfortunately, you’ll have to guess at the right time to start your MP3 player and your VCR/TiVo/whatever, because we couldn’t get the TV audio to pick up well at all on the microphone. Oh well, hopefully you will find our entertaining insights, er, uh, entertaining. We did also slip in some bits of our regular features, too (Slangoria and Reposing or Decomposing?).

Ok, finally listened today.
as I have this amazing memory that only works for useless information.
I didn’t watch it with the show, as I was driving home…but I do remember the show
Your prediction was wrong Pads! Whaddupwitdat?
I figured it was time for Storm to go. She is good, but it was her time.
Really getting bored with Magni…not so magni-ficent.
I think you are right. It will be Oompa Loompa and Dilana in the end.
BTW, you did the Steve Irwin joke twice….

Can’t wait for Episode 50!!!!
You mentioning the SpEnt fiXer song is making me want to hear some….guess I will have to go find my TAPE and see if I can find an ancient cassette player to listen to it in MONO!
(do you feel my disappointment)…I’m just so UHHHHHHHH….
Nelsen Out!

Aren, you definitely are Uhhhhhnnnnn!
Thanks for listening to the episode, I wasn’t sure how it would work. I was ready to do one last night, but L.G. flaked for some reason. He usually has a lot of consoling to do these days . . . not to mention that he has the added pressure of trying to organize a lifetime of stuff to prepare for his southernly journey. Anway, sorry that we couldn’t get the last Rockstar episode recorded for ya. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get a 50th episode in the can before L.G.’s departure.
Regarding last night’s episode, for me, the highlight was definitely the return of The Darkhorse! He ripped it up. Toby did great with his original. I still think Dilana sucks, but her version of Roxanne was mildly interesting. I do believe that her original is just marginally better than Magni’s, but that isn’t saying so much. I thought Lukas really floundered. His set really seemed to suck the life out of the room. I don’t think he was bad, necessarily, but after the previous performers, ouch . . . stripping down your set may not have been the best idea.
Still, Ryan and House Band rocked. It saved the show.
I will make no predictions, because obviously, I totally suck at them, despite my vast musical acumen. :p

I can’t believe LG is leaving you… I hope you guys can remain civil to each other like Pam and Tommy Lee, at least for us kids sakes
haha!
Yeah, LOVED seeing Ryan come back….he kicked it!
I did like Dilana’s version of Roxanne, it was different and was good.
I recorded the episode, so I pretty much zoomed past Lukas because I just can’t stand watching him with his ala-Mick Jagger moves he does on stage. Mick is the only guy that can do that…
I just loved your comment about Gilby not being able to play the guitar….I loved the comment about being in the guitar shop and Gilby thinking…I wish I could play those.
So which Mickie D’s will Supernova being playing at?

Hahaha! I just hope they aren’t playing the Kenmore Mickie D’s!
I think if I were to attend their show, I would probably leave after Panic Channel played. I’ve been listening to that album a lot and it sounds sort of like a bad Jane’s Addiction record. Which is way better than most “good” albums today. They really could have used Perry’s vocals and weird imagism. But overall, it isn’t that bad. Though I have to admit, I really disliked it the first couple of times I listened to it. I did like Dave’s guitar playing though; I always have.
I wonder where else Ryan’s album might be available. I really don’t want to buy it from MSN.
Well, if I have time I may do a play by play of the final show. I guess at this point I’m really rooting for anybody other than Dilana! Actually, I guess I’m pulling for Toby, but even though I really really really don’t like Magni as a singer, I do love the way he loves to jam! And that might give him a lot of credit with the band, because all of those guys have been in bands that get off on jamming. Especially Jason, who I am sure is really captaining this SuperPirates boat. I thought that it was extremely cool that Magni did a Deep Purple song . . . though I would have prefered something like Space Trucking, Lazy, Child in Time (hahaha, a 14 minute song!) or Highway Star. Oh well, it was still DP!
Hopefully, this last show will be better. Kind of getting sick of hearing a toned down cover song done lamely to make the rocker’s subsequent “original” sound better. I don’t think I really need to hear “headspin” again, do you?
